Excited to be the structural engineers for one of the largest Kainga Ora social housing projects in New Zealand. Sixteen buildings in total make up the Arlington development with the four six-storey apartment blocks to be constructed using light weight timber. When completed, these apartments will be the largest timber framed buildings in Wellington! A fantastic result for the environment.
Silvester Clark and the team have built up a huge amount of know-how on this project and this will be hugely beneficial for the engineering profession showing that light weight timber framed buildings of this size, in a high seismic area are feasible.
Construction of the piled foundations has started on site.
