This is to be Progressive’s landmark supermarket in New Zealand. It will be the first one to have a new modern layout.
The supermarket is approximately 4,500 square metres with two below ground basement levels to be used for car parking.
The basements are to be constructed using soldier piles and an insitu concrete facing wall. The basement will be tanked as it is below the water table. The floors will consist of precast concrete beams and hollowcore flooring to suit the large clear spans required for the car park and circulation.
The supermarket will have large clear spans, using fabricated steel sections.
Cladding will be a mix of several building materials and forms to make this the landmark building that it is.
Loading areas will be partially on suspended slabs, as large vehicles will be moving through the site.
