The construction of Wellington Children’s Hospital is nearing completion, located at the northern end of the Wellington Regional Hospital site on Riddiford Street, Newtown. The new three storey hospital building linked to the main Wellington Hospital building with a sky bridge will have a total of 151 beds – in bedrooms, consult rooms, and clinical rooms. Fifty of these are inpatient hospital beds, as well as social and family/whānau areas.
Silvester Clark are the seismic restraint engineers for the project. The majority of building services, partition walls, and suspended ceilings are already installed with seismic restraints. Moment resisting frames have been utilised to brace services within highly congested corridors whereas less congested area services have been restrained by individual braces.
